Advancing science, intelligence & computation.

Thinking About Thinking is a nonprofit research and convening organization dedicated to advancing our understanding of intelligence in all its forms—artificial, biological, and collective.

We work across artificial intelligence, neuroscience, cognitive science, robotics, computational biology, psychology, linguistics, mathematics, engineering, and information theory. Our focus is on questions that sit between disciplines, move faster than institutions, or require new intellectual frameworks to be understood responsibly.

Through conferences, workshops, fellowships, ambassador programmes, and public media, we bring together researchers, builders, and thinkers to explore how intelligent systems are studied, built, governed, and lived with, and how these systems are reshaping science, society, and culture.

Our Offerings

Conferences

Our flagship conferences convene leading researchers, engineers, founders, funders, and policymakers to explore foundational questions in intelligence, computation, and society.

AE Global Summit is our large-scale annual gathering in London, focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, research infrastructure, and governance.

Neuromonster is an intimate retreat-format conference exploring the mathematical, neuroscientific, and computational foundations of intelligence.

Workshops

Throughout the year, we host focused technical workshops and hackathons that bring together experts across disciplines to work on specific bottlenecks in research, application, and value generation.

Workshop topics span machine learning, robotics, computational biology, data science, AI for science, applied mathematics, and entrepreneurship.

Ambassador Programmes

Our ambassador programmes support students and early-career researchers who help convene local communities, support our events, and extend Thinking About Thinking into universities, labs, and research groups around the world.

Ambassadors play a key role in building a global, interdisciplinary network for serious inquiry into intelligence.

Fellowship

The Thinking About Thinking Fellowship supports exceptional early  career researchers, engineers, and thinkers working across intelligence-related fields.

The Fellowship provides access to mentorship, community, and platforms for sharing work across disciplines.

Seminar Groups

Our seminar groups host regular online sessions featuring researchers and practitioners presenting cutting-edge research, methods, and applications in a focused, discussion-led setting.

Seminars cover topics including artificial intelligence, neuroscience, computational linguistics, computer vision, robotics, information theory, and cognitive science.

Recordings

We publish recordings of talks, panels, and seminars from our events, making frontier research and interdisciplinary dialogue accessible beyond the conference hall.

Our Milestones

Thinking About Thinking was founded to create shared intellectual infrastructure for understanding intelligence across disciplines.

We have convened interdisciplinary conferences and retreats bringing together researchers from AI, neuroscience, mathematics, and engineering in order to advance the science of intelligence.

We have built a growing international community of students, researchers, and practitioners working across intelligence-related fields.

Startup

We have established a strong presence within startup and innovation ecosystems, hosting dedicated days and sessions at summits, competitions, expos, and funder convenings. Through this work, we connect emerging founders and technical teams with researchers, institutional partners, and long-term capital, supporting the translation of frontier research into real-world systems and organisations.

We have expanded into public media, recordings, seminars, and podcasts, to make complex ideas accessible without oversimplification.
