Dispatches · For Science Enthusiasts
On the institutions of the city.
Rome is home to some of Europe’s oldest scientific institutions. Sapienza University (est. 1303) is a fifteen-minute walk north. CNR-ISTC, where several attendees work, is nearby. EMBL Rome, home to several speakers, sits five minutes from the venue. The mathematics department at Sapienza retains a rich tradition in mathematical physics.
Dispatches · Eating in Rome
A note on the table.
Avoid the tourist traps near the Colosseum. The Esquilino neighbourhood has good, affordable options. Mercato Esquilino is an excellent covered market for cheap multicultural food. For classic Roman pasta, try Trattoria Da Danilo (book ahead). Pizzeria La Biga is three minutes from the venue.
