Privacy Policy

The Fellowship Hub is a private community for invited members of the Thinking About Thinking Fellowship and Ambassador programmes. It is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old, and an invited or approved member, to hold an account.

We collect only what we need to run the community:

• Account details — your name and email address, used to sign you in and identify you to other members.
• Profile information — anything you choose to add to your profile, such as a bio, links, photo, institution, and interests.
• Content you post — thoughts in the Thought Channel, replies, direct messages (ThAT Chat), Light Bulbs, and Spark (connection) requests.
• Images you upload — if you add a profile photo or attach an image, we access your camera or photo library only when you choose to do so.
• Imported public posts — if you opt in to the Bluesky import, we read your publicly available Bluesky posts to display them on your feed. We do not request your Bluesky password or post on your behalf.
• Notification tokens — if you enable push notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver alerts about activity relevant to you.
• Basic technical data — standard server and security logs (such as a sign-in session cookie) needed to keep your account secure and the service running.

• To operate the Hub — show your profile and posts to other members, deliver messages, and power features like Sparks and Light Bulbs.
• To authenticate you and keep your account and the community secure.
• To send you notifications and important service or community emails.
• To understand, maintain, and improve how the Hub works.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

The Hub is a social space. Your profile, your thoughts in the Thought Channel, your replies, and the Light Bulbs and Sparks you give are visible to other signed-in members of the community. Direct messages in ThAT Chat are visible only to you and the people in that conversation. Please treat the Hub as a shared, members-only environment and share accordingly.

Your data is stored using trusted infrastructure providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions:

• Google Firebase — database and authentication for accounts, profiles, and content.
• Vercel — hosting and delivery of the web application.
• Apple Push Notification service — delivery of notifications to your device (if enabled).
• Email delivery providers — to send account and community emails.

We share your information with these providers only as needed to run the service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our members and the community.

We keep your information for as long as you have an account with the Hub. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile and personal information, except where we are required to keep certain records to meet legal obligations.

• You can review and update your profile information at any time from within the Hub.
• You can turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
• You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing clare@thinkingaboutthinking.org.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the UK GDPR or GDPR.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No online service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit who can access it.

The Hub is intended for members aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify members within the Hub.
